or at 733-0300 or Monday Evenings 732-1995. Teen Leader |
|
Teen Reality is for all teens 13-18 years old or 7th – 12th grade and their friends. We
meet Mondays, all year, from 7-9P.M. at SS. Peter & Paul’s former office, at 161 High St.
Teens are welcome to join us at anytime.
Teen Reality is comprised of teens from Elmira, Horseheads, Chemung and Lowman. They
attend Southside H. S., Notre Dame, E.F.A., Horseheads High and several Jr. High’s
including one in Waverly. Most of the present teens are Catholic, some are not. All teens
are welcome and they may bring their friends. This Monday we discussed why they come to Teen Reality. At first, some came because they
were told they needed to in order to play C.Y.O. basketball. Some came because an older
brother or sister belonged to the group. Some came because they were invited by a friend. When asked why they still come, they said it was because they wanted to not because
they had to. This group makes decisions together, whether it’s a service project, a retreat, a
party, or if we’re going to meet on a holiday. They learn about and discuss their faith,
how they live it, what it means to them, and other subjects that matter to them. This is not a “secret” group but they do respect and keep things confidential. “What’s
said here stays here.” Actually, that’s the only rule. If you are a teen, or know a teen, the teens at the meeting say teens don’t read the
bulletin so it will be up to you adults to suggest this, we meet every Monday from 7-9PM
at St. Peter and Paul’s old office at 161 High St. We will be meeting throughout the
Summer. Some nights we will be at other locations for fun nights, or in the gym. |
Teen CreedDon't let your parents down, They brought you up. Be humble enough to obey, You may give orders someday. Choose companions with care You may become what they are. Guard your thoughts. What you think, you are. Choose only a date who would make a good mate. Be a master of your habits or they will master you. Don't be a show off when you drive. Drive with safety and arrive. Don't let the crowd pressure you. Stand for something or you'll fall for everything. anonymous A PrayerGod,Why is it so hard to get close to people to let people get close to me to make friends? Is it because I've been hurt before and am afraid to be vulnerable again? Is it because I think others will take advantage of my openness? Your Son had twelve close friends. One sold Him for thirty pieces of silver. Another denied that he ever knew Him. The rest ran away when He needed them most. Jesus even predicted these things --yet He didn't shut Himself off from friendship. Make me willing to take the risk, too. Help me to realize that, ultimately, in opening to another human being we are opening ourselves to You. Amen. ( author unknown) |
